8/7/2010 The Java Room --espresso, music, wine bar, 14 Littleton Road, Gingerale Plaza, Chelmsford, MA.
Summer night at the Java Room. Our first gig announced on Twitter! The Bertucci's next door got a little smoky, bringing the fire engines and causing a brief adjournment to the sidewalk where Mimi continued the show. After the "all clear," we debuted a bunch of new tunes by Stealers Wheel, Van Morrison, and a sort of new one (for us) by Foreigner. Thanks to everyone who came out to hear us, including Bruce from Drivin' Blind, Joyce, Sandy, Victoria, Mike and Elsa, and all the Java Room regulars. New friends Susan and Anthony provided plenty of encouragement as well -- we'll see you next time! As always, thanks to Candy for hosting us.

7/9/2010 Vinny's Ristorante, 76 Broadway, Somerville, MA A great summer gig in Vinny's front room and a terrific welcome from the regulars. We played in front of the chips (discreetly curtained -- thanks Carmen) with loads of friends in attendance. "Little Vinny" sang "That's Amore"; owner Vinny helped us out on "Under the Boardwalk"; and Reed and Lenny added high and low harmonies to "Wait"! After two sets we turned our attention to Vinny's special lamb osso bucco , sauages and rabe, and homemade pasta and sauce. Happy Birthday to Reed and thanks to all his friends who turned out to celebrate: Barb, Sue, Randy, Mara, Bruce, Lori, Sunny, and Rowan! Happy anniversary Lenny and Lisa! From the back room, Jan and Bruce dined and listened to Mimi's great mix, along with Katie and Rob. Thanks to Mary Beth and Don, as well, and a special thanks to Steve's hero Randy.

4/17/2010 Elks Club, Arlington, MA (joint appearance with The Wayback Machine) First of all -- thanks to Dennis for throwing a great party and hand-crafting the meatballs (also good for breakfast the next day, says Derm). Thanks to Arlington's own Wayback Machine -- Dennis, Don, and Phil -- for inviting Aunt Mimi to open and then sit in for the evening while the band kicked out tunes by Rascals, Hendrix, Beatles and the like. Special thank you to loyal Frank who tracked us down at Spy Pond and provided us with positive feedback throughout the evening. Hi to all Auntie's Arlington friends, including Paul and Mary, and Phil. Last but not least, thanks to all the dancers who kept the band working hard all night and cheered us on. Hope to see everybody again soon.

3/20/2010 Ichabod's Cafe, 166 Great Road, Acton MA. Steve and Derm couldn't have had a better evening than at Ichabod's! The chicken kebabs and Sal's roasted and spiced vegetables got things started off right. Then three fun sets while folks ate, drank and listened. Maria came up to sing "White Rabbit" (Auntie pulled it out of a hat, basically) and we decided to wing a couple more classic rock tunes while we were at it -- plus our usual off-beat numbers. Now we have to learn some Blondie and Pretenders. Frank -- steadfast lad -- kept our spirits up with finger snaps and even applause. Thanks also to Sal, Megan, Adam and all the regulars -- we'll see you in May!

3/20/2010 The Old Schwamb Mill, 17 Mill Lane, Arlington, MA Mimi returned to play another open house at this picture frame mill, a living history museum. Elsa and Mike, Auntie's sound crew, sang along and helped us knock out some low-frequency feedback. Nice to see Alex and Wendy, and some new friends Mark and Chrissie. Special thanks to Sam, who got Aunt Mimi's whole "out-of-the-way" repertoire from the get-go -- and knew immediately that "Have You Seen Her Face" was a Byrds tune.

12/31/2009 Unums , 47 E. Pearl Street, Nashua, N.H. We rang in 2010 at one of southern New Hampshire's finest restaurants. A little New Year's dancing going on -- to John Denver, Buck Owens, and Leo Sayer! Thanks to Steve for opening his great restaurant to us and to Dan and the rest of the wait staff who made us feel at home.

12/19/2009 Savoury Lane, 251 Arlington Street, Acton, MA. Spring, summer and fall had come and gone since we played at Savoury, and we were glad to be back for some beef stew, roasted chicken, and the warm, friendly back room. Great seeing Jan, Bruce, Susie, and everyone else who defied the much-hyped storm (that didn't start till midnight). Greg, Wes, and the great Savoury staff made us feel at home, as usual. 4/18/2009 The Emerald Rose, 785 Boston Rd. (Rt. 3A), Billerica, MA Besides entertaining friends and regulars, we got to play for a surprise birthday party at the Rose. Happy 30th (or was it 19th?) J! One Foreigner fan was glad to hear "Fool For You Anyway," a new song in our act. Steve Dineen of blues band Drivin' Blind dropped by as well. Hi to Joan, Sandy and our other fans who stopped in.

3/7/2009 The Emerald Rose, 785 Boston Road (Route 3A), Billerica, MA Fully equipped, we had a great night seeing old friends and making some new ones. Steve's singing veterinarian in the Quannapowitt Players production of Key for Two brought some music lovers out to hear him for real with Aunt Mimi! Thanks to Gene (who gave us a thumbs-up on the Beatle tunes), Elsa, Dennis, Heather, Dale, Janet, Roger and all who dropped in to hear us.

2/27/2009 Savoury Lane, 251 Arlington Street, Acton, MA What a fun night! Steve's three siblings, along with cousins, outlaws and family friends; Theatre III folks, including veterans of Cuckoo's Nest; old band mates who googled Steve and stalked him down at Savoury; and even some Savoury regulars who had checked out Auntie on the web and thought we were worth a listen. PLUS some enthusiastic young folks and attendant families and the great deli crew at Savoury who made everyone feel welcome. The best acoustics of anywhere we've played. Thanks to Heather, Phyllis and Jeff, Jan and Bruce, Joan, Richard and Sandy, Gary and Sue (Gordon Lightfoot fans), Victoria, Sandy, Donna, Annette, Beth, Susie, Tom and Marlene, Steve and Molly, Brendon, Rod and Jay, and all who came down for a sandwich and some tunes.

We're looking forward to another fun time at the Rose on March 7.

1/3/2009 The Pleasant Cafe, Maynard, MA. An unexpected gig at a friendly local bar in Maynard, filling in for friends True West. Steve met Peggy and the rest of the crew at the PC, known for its chili, pool, and football fans. Maynard's a great destination for dinner and beers, so we'll let Auntie's friends know next time we play here.

12/26/2008 The Harvest Cafe, Hudson, MA. Good weather on Boxing Day brought lots of friends out to the Harvest. We debuted a bunch of new songs and had our usual great Pippa-prepared meals! Great seeing Ben and Maureen, Jeff and Trish, Joanie and the gang from western Massachusetts!

11/11/2008 Colonial Inn open mic, 48 Monument Square, Concord, MA. Steve and Derm met some great musicians and performed a few songs out back in the Forge Room. One of the best open mics around. Bruce Marshall -- star that he is -- runs one of the best open mics we've seen, making folks feel welcome, announcing every performer, adjusting sound and microphones for every act, and occasionally playing some back up. He opens the shows with a set of his own tunes, all great. We'll be back!

9/27/2008 The Bolton Fair, The Fairgrounds at Lancaster, 318 Seven Bridge Road, Lancaster, MA. The rain and mud did not stop us or the fair-goers from having a great time on Saturday. Greg on sound kept Auntie up and running for two hours -- then we got to sit back and listen to one great performance after another from Custom Blend, Red Molly, and the Theatre III cast of Jane Eyre. And watch the juggling-plus of Wade Henry. Thanks to Sandy, Victoria, Heather, JG and Caroline, and all the folks who made the show!

4/20/2008 Farmer's Market Earth Day celebration, Bartlett Mall on High Street, Newburyport, MA. Lyra and friends put on the most organized volunteer show we've seen in years, with great sound. We made some new friends (thanks for the Buck tune, Liz) and look forward to coming back this summer.

3/8/2008 The Old Schwamb Mill, 17 Mill Lane, Arlington, MA We played the open house at this historic picture frame mill, now a historic site and gallery. The 19th century equipment is still very much operational, the wooden walls and floors virtually untouched since the place ceased regular business in the 1960s. Thanks to Grace, Ed, JG, Jen, Dale, Heather and her folks and our newest fan, Carolyn.

10/5/2007 - The Harvest Cafe, 40 Washington St., Hudson, MA Our friend singer-songwriter Steve Howard hosted this open mike. We played twice, enjoyed the delicious fall menu (autumn vegetable ravioli was great), and caught some other great players. Ryan was the new guy, a high school student with his own originals, self-taught on guitar. Todd (formerly of The Accidentals) played some new and old originals, and Steve shared some really nice new compositions. Hope to make it back soon.

9/20/2007 - Java Jim's Espresso Bar & Cafe, Natick, MA. We played two sets unplugged outside this intimate coffeehouse venue -- one of the cool local stores participating in downtown Natick's monthly ARTWALK. Dominic brewed the coffee while Doug displayed his photographs within. Jeff sat in for a couple tunes - "Wash My Hands" and Woody Guthrie's "Dough-Re-Mi," appropriate enough for an art event. Thanks to him and Trish for coming to see us. The MacKays stopped by to catch the act as well. Thank you Sue at Flowers on the Depot for hooking us up with Java Jim's!

8/25/2007 - Porter's, Boston, MA -- Auntie played for two sets, all part of Porter's "Acoustic Summer Concert Series" presented by Anthem Entertainment. Thanks to Nancy, Sandy, and Don, for coming out to see us! Katie and Tierra - thanks for minding the gate. Andy, a Jayhawks fan, and Jim were manning the bar -- a hot summer night, but a cool time at Porter's!
